The Honda CB125R is a staple of the entry-level, A1-targeted 125cc class, and it is updated for 2024 with new paint and a slight upgrade in specification.
Starting at the end, with the specs, the engine remains the same four-valve single-cylinder unit that was introduced in 2021, producing 15bhp and 8.5lb ft, and the Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) upside-down front fork remains, too. Further, you still get dual 296mm front discs with radially mounted four-piston callipers, and a single 220mm rear disc with single-piston calliper at the rear - both operating with two-channel anti-lock assistance.
The upgrade, on the specification front, comes in the form of a new, full-colour five-inch TFT display that the CB125R has inherited from its larger sibling, the Honda CB1000R. Either analogue- or bar-style speed and RPM counters can be selected on the new display, which also shows the fuel gauge and consumption, current gear, and features the ability for the rider to select a custom shift-up point on the rev counter. The new TFT can be navigated using the bike’s new switchgear on the left handlebar, which Honda says is “both stylish and intuitive.”
The 2024 Honda CBR125R will be available in four new colours: Matt Cynos Gray Metallic with Black trim, Pearl Cool White with Matt Cynos Gray Metallic trim, Reef Sea Blue Metallic with Matt Cynos Gray Metallic trim, Pearl Splendor Red with Matt Cynos Gray Metallic trim. (“Trim” refers, in this case, to the sump guard and shrouds.)
Prices for the 2024 Honda CB125R begin at £4,699, which undercuts the £4,802 Yamaha XSR125 and £4,899 Husqvarna Vitpilen 125, but comes in a fair way over price of the more contemporarily aestheticised Kawasaki Z125 (from £3,799).
